Most of the adults I see with ADHD were never described as struggling. They were described as bright, capable, a little scattered — and then, eventually, exhausted.

I’m Kierstan Streber, LCSW, a psychotherapist in San Francisco with sixteen years of clinical experience and advanced certification in ADHD. Much of my practice is adults with diagnosed, late-diagnosed, or suspected ADHD: founders, engineers, designers, clinicians, parents, and high-achievers who have been compensating so successfully for so long that no one noticed the cost.

ADHD in adulthood rarely looks like a hyperactive kid in a classroom. It looks like an inbox you can’t open, a brilliant idea you can’t start, three hours lost to a task you meant to spend twenty minutes on, and a private conviction that you are simply not trying hard enough. Advanced certification means I can tell the difference between ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and burnout — and treat what’s actually there.

What we work on

  • Task initiation, time blindness, and the gap between intention and action
  • Executive-function scaffolding built for your actual life, not a productivity system you'll abandon
  • Emotional regulation and rejection sensitivity
  • Making sense of a late-in-life ADHD diagnosis, including grief and relief
  • ADHD and burnout — how masking accelerates collapse
  • ADHD in relationships, parenting, and partnership
  • Coordinating with prescribers and neuropsychologists when medication or testing is the right next step

ADHD workshops and trainings

Alongside clinical work, I teach. Companies, people teams, manager cohorts, and clinician groups in San Francisco and the wider Bay Area bring me in to make ADHD legible — without pathologizing the people who have it.

For organizations

Lunch-and-learns and half-day workshops on ADHD and neurodiversity at work: accommodations that cost nothing, meeting and documentation design, and how to keep your most inventive employees from quietly burning out.

For managers

Practical sessions on supporting neurodivergent reports — feedback that lands, deadlines that hold, and the difference between a performance problem and an unaccommodated brain.

For clinicians

Consultation and training for therapists who want to work more confidently with adult ADHD: differential picture, ADHD and trauma overlap, and interventions that survive contact with a real week.

For groups & conferences

Talks and panels on adult ADHD, burnout, and the cost of high-functioning masking, shaped to your audience.

Common questions

Who is an ADHD expert in San Francisco?

Kierstan Streber, LCSW is a licensed psychotherapist in San Francisco with advanced certification in ADHD and sixteen years of clinical experience. She works with adults with diagnosed and suspected ADHD across California via telehealth, and leads ADHD workshops and trainings for workplaces, teams, and fellow clinicians.

What does adult ADHD therapy look like?

Weekly or biweekly 50-minute sessions focused on how ADHD actually shows up in an adult life: task initiation, time blindness, emotional regulation, rejection sensitivity, executive-function scaffolding, sleep, and the shame that accumulates after years of being told to just try harder. The work is relational and practical rather than a worksheet program.

Do you diagnose ADHD?

Kierstan does not provide formal psychological testing or prescribe medication. She offers clinical assessment and screening, helps clients make sense of a late-in-life diagnosis, and coordinates with prescribers and neuropsychologists in the Bay Area when testing or medication is the right next step.

Do you offer ADHD workshops or trainings?

Yes. Kierstan leads ADHD and neurodiversity trainings for companies, HR and people teams, manager cohorts, and clinician groups — including lunch-and-learns, half-day workshops, and continuing-education style sessions on supporting neurodivergent employees without pathologizing them.

Is ADHD therapy available outside San Francisco?

Yes. Sessions are held in San Francisco and by telehealth for adults anywhere in California, including the East Bay, Peninsula, South Bay, Los Angeles, and San Diego.
